What are Managed Apple IDs?

Before Apple introduced Managed Apple IDs, apps had to be assigned to personal Apple IDs which made them the property of the user rather than the company. Managed Apple IDs avoid this by letting the company retain ownership of all content. Managed Apple IDs are also at the heart of Apple’s User Enrollment feature, which was released with macOS 10.15 and iOS 13.
